Frequently asked questions.....

Q. Can I keep an Australian Miniature Goat?

A. You will need to contact your local council to find out how your property is zoned and if you are allowed to keep goats.

Q. What do I need to keep them on my property?

A. Each state have different requirements for keeping livestock. You will need to contact your local Department of Primary Industries to find out what is required. In QLD you are required to acquire a PIC number (property identification) if you keep more than one head of any livestock.

Q. I live interstate, can I transport them?

A. Mini Goats need to be collected from our stud by the new owner or a transport company unless otherwise arranged. K9 Couriers (02 63740278) will bottle feed and deliver by road around Australia at any age and pick up from our stud. Goats only over the age of 8 weeks can be transported via plane and organised through Jet Pets or Australian Air express or any other transport company.

Buyers are responsible for organisation of all transport and enquiries/quotes etc with these companies. We will be happy to do the 2 hr round trip to Brisbane airport for drop off of does and bucks or a doe and wether pair with a $50 charge to cover petrol costs . Single Wethers or a pair of wethers will need to be pick up from our stud.

Q Do goats need anything to move from state to state?

A. Yes, once again movement between states have different requirements. All goats require a NLIS approved ear tag to move between properties and will also require a weigh bill and other paperwork. Your breeder will supply this for you. You must make sure you have one before you start traveling or you may be fined if caught.

You may also be required to have your animals sprayed for ticks as an entry requirement into states. This is the buyers responsibility to find out what areas this is required for and information can be obtained by a phone call to your local department of Primary industry.
